Kevin Scott

Drummer/Percussionist, Producer, Instructor, Singer

 
 

Entirely self taught, Kevin started playing in Birmingham, Alabama at 8 years old, then began his musical apprenticeship playing with local R&B and jazz bands by the time he was 12 years old. Recognizing his talents, the Late Jimmy Chappell, a trumpeter in the Count Basie Orchestra, shared his musical insight, giving him an even deeper appreciation for his craft. However, it was meeting with Nancy Wilson's then bass player, Nathaniel Briggins, that revealed the importance of Latin, Traditional, and Contemporary Jazz to the young drummer's development.  

For the past 50 years, Kevin’s impressive skills have opened many doors giving him the opportunity of touring both regionally and nationally for major label R&B and Pop artists. He has toured with MCA recording artists Mikki Howard, Barry White and the Love Unlimited Orchestra. He was also musical director for the female recording artist group Sister Sledge. Other well known artists he has worked for are Dennis Edwards Review of the Temptations, The S.O.S. Band, David Sea (RCA Victor), Stevie Wonder, Christopher Martin (Kid & Play), Mel'lisa Morgan, Ollie Woodson Temptations Review, 2005 Dove Award Winner & Grammy Award Winner- Israel Houghton & New Breed, Blues artists Willie Clayton and Pat Brown, Norman Connors, Jean Carne, Angela Bofill, Tim Johnson (Timstrel Music) and hit play “Stop the Noise Bring Back the Music.'' 

Throughout his Texas tenure, he’s played for  many different artists, bands and churches such as Sauce The Band of Austin TX, Austin Party Band, Glenn Rexach Group, The Austin Jazz Workshop, Pamela Hart & The Women In Jazz of Austin, TX, Larry Braggs formerly of Tower of Power, Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church from 2006 to 2014, and Journey Elgin, to name a few.

After many years of performing and playing for different bands and artists Kevin was inspired to build his own recording studio-Scovis Productions Recording Studio where he specializes in digital drum tracking.  Kevin’s musical career is an important part of his life. He is always evolving in his drumming and music style like a chameleon, perfecting his skill to fit any genre.   

Valarie Scott

Vocalist, Song Writer, Instructor, Actress

  Originally a native of Richmond, Virginia, Valarie started singing in church at the age of 5yrs old.  Throughout high school she performed in many different plays and productions such as "Beulah" and "Seasoned" written and directed by playwriter Delores Garland and "We Need Him Now" written by Stu Gardner, musical director for The Bill Cosby Show.  Valarie has even written and performed a children's play entitled "The Christian Exchange."     

     Compelled by her creative desire to perform and write songs, she furthered her experience by co-founding an all girls group with her sister Anita Davis, and two other young ladies Francine Lyons and Nancy Drye, they called themselves "The Bebop Girls" performing locally throughout Richmond, Virginia. This all girls group stood out from the rest  captivating audiences with their tight acapella harmonies, and sang popular songs from the 20's to the 70's.  The groups success and tight vocal harmonies enabled them to open for recording artists Kenny G., "The Controllers", Jerry Butler, and "Pieces of a Dream."  This also gave group an opportunity to have their own half hour special that was aired on Channel 21 for 2 years, in Richmond, Va.  Later, she and two other artists formed an R&B group called, "Fresh Package" where she was a co-writer and performer.  They performed throughout Phoenix, AZ dazzling audiences with their smooth dance moves and original songs.  As a solo artist, Valarie has appeared on the Fox Television Network, on "Amateur Night-Show Time at the Apollo" in New York. In Austin Texas, she has performed with "Just  Released",  "James Polk Big Band", and Pamela Hart - "Woman In Jazz Concert Series".

Throughout Valarie's music career she has enjoyed the opportunity to perform, teach, and inspire people with her vocal talent. She believes "Music brings people together" which inspires her to continue to  write songs. She captivates her audiences with her soulful, yet wide range, and eloquent vocal style that complements any genre of music.

 

Olivia Scott

Vocalist, Actress, Artist

Olivia Scott vocalist, artist, and performer born in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Olivia was raised around music and compelled to sing and perform at an early age.  Under the musical wings of her parents Kevin and Valarie, she has been able to fly on her own by performing in High School musical productions such as "Seussical: The Musical" and "Once on this Island." She also furthered her vocal training in varies choirs and ensembles while in highschool by performing in Choir III, Show Choir IV, Varsity Treble Choir IV, Texas State Solo & Ensemble Competitions, and Texas State UIL Choir Concert Competitions.

 

While in High School, Olivia was also able to express her gifts and talents through art and dance.  She performed with the Elgin Highschool Dance Team and showed her skills in AP Studio Art Drawing, which led her to enter into the 2019 AP Studio Art Portfolio Competition.

After graduating from highschool, Olivia added another facet of Arts to her list of talents.  She currently attends Austin Community College and is studying Culinary Arts. Aside her ability to create music,  her ability to create food dishes that not only look good, but also taste good and are healthy for you, is among one of her many gifts as well. 

Olivia’s love for music compels her to follow in her parents footsteps. While gaining her experience in studio recording and video performance, she has done demo background vocals for artist Larry Braggs,  singer/songwriter Valarie Scott (her mother), various background vocal work for Scovis Production and sings on the Journey Elgin Worship Team. 

 

Olivia has her own unique, sweet, and mellifluous vocal style that represents the younger generation's approach to soul music. Along with her smile and personality, she mesmerizes and inspires her audience leaving them wanting to hear more.
